We own trades businesses. And we sell them.
Touchstone Electric and Horizon Roofing & Restoration are ours. We have hired the technicians, missed the fleet replacements and sat across from the same private equity platforms you are about to meet.
That is the whole difference between these pages and a franchise broker's sector page. Pick your trade below.
Sectors we work in
Three trades, valued on genuinely different drivers. The multiple spread between a service-weighted book and a new-construction book is wider than most owners expect.
HVAC & mechanical
Priced off the maintenance agreement base first and technician tenure second. Service-heavy books command a materially different multiple than replacement and new construction.
Roofing & restoration
Storm and insurance work is real revenue that buyers discount hard for being lumpy. Commercial re-roof and maintenance contracts are what hold the price up.
Electrical contracting
Licensing, bonding capacity and the service-to-project mix drive the number. We own an electrical business, so this one is written from the inside.
What is true in every trade
Four things we check on every contracting deal, whatever the sector.
Recurring revenue is the multiple
Contracted maintenance is the difference between a good price and an average one. Everything else is a rounding error next to it.
The owner cannot be the salesperson
If the founder still closes the commercial work, the business is a job with equipment attached. Buyers price it that way.
Deferred capital expenditure comes off the price
Trucks and equipment you stopped replacing two years ago cost more at closing than they saved on the way in.
Crew finds out last
In a labour market this tight a leak costs you people before it costs you price. Blind profile first, names at the end.
Why us, specifically
Owners / Operators first, advisors second
We are not a brokerage that read a sector report. We own the businesses, run the crews and have made the mistakes on our own balance sheet before advising anyone else about theirs.
Common questions
Do you only work with trades businesses?
No. These are the sectors we have owned, so they are the ones where we can be specific. We advise across lower middle market businesses generally.
My trade is not listed. Can you still help?
Usually yes. The mechanics of a contracting sale — recurring revenue, key-person risk, working capital — travel further than the trade does.
Is a contracting business worth more to a platform or a competitor?
Platforms usually pay more and ask you to stay. Competitors close faster and cut overhead immediately. Which is better depends on what you want the next three years to look like.
